Culture Club star Boy George is under fire
“Tension isn’t even a year old yet! Not only that but when other artists incorporate classic album covers into their album covers they make it their own… this Boy George cover is basically what it would have been if he released ‘Tension’ instead of Kylie,” a third user commented.
Another confused Kylie fan added: “I don’t understand, is this a tribute Boy George is paying to Kylie or did he plagiarize her?”
For his part, Boy George seems to be taking part in the social media storm. When asked why he decided to pay “homage” to Kylie with the cover of his new single, Boy George replied: “I’m recycling everything. It’s trendy. Is even fashion being recycled?”
Culture Club star Boy George is under fire for allegedly “ripping off” Kylie Minogue’s artwork for Tension for his new single.
The artwork for Boy George’s new track “Religion” features the 62-year-old gay singer with his signature green beard and hat combo.
He’s standing against a sunlit orange-yellow background, with his name and the unique title written across the artwork.
However, the entire image, from the color scheme to the font, looks remarkably similar to Kylie’s artwork for her album Tension, which premiered in September, less than six months ago.
Fans of “Padam Padam” hitmaker and LGBTQ+ ally Kylie immediately noticed the resemblance and jumped on social media to slam the “Do You Really Want To Hurt Me” singer.
